While the media is tittering about extraterrestrial diplomacy the real news of the week is much more exciting.
Gliese 581 g is believed to be the first Earth-like planet found in the habitable zone of it's parent star. Researchers say that they believe the likelihood of some sort of extraterrestrial life on the planet is high. Once again science pushes forward while human politics gets bogged down in turf wars. Congrats to the scientists in the Lick-Carnegie Exoplanet Survey!
